Still Here!

I have been on holiday for much of the past 4 weeks. It is actually good to get back to work.

If you have never been to the Canadian Rockies, I highly recommend you see them. If you are not a cold weather lover like me, then go in the Summer. I took a 5km hike up to a frozen waterfall in Banff National Park. It was -20C at the time but with an elevation gain of 350 meters, I was soon sweating.

Took some great shots though and I will find a good one to tag onto this blog post. Plenty of Snow there in Banff and in Saskatoon but much of it has now melted!

This crazy winter weather has brought incredible warmth to Western Canada and fires to the plains. California meanwhile is getting pounded with storm after storm. In Australia, drought and wild fires with heavy snow in the UK.

Now any Meteorologist worth his salt would immediately look at those facts and scream EL NINO! That is exactly the kind of weather a strong El Nino will bring to the planet.

One problem though-
No El Nino!

So what is the explanation?
Well right now the going hypothesis is coincidence.

Not much comfort from the snow lovers around here who are sending me emails of complaint about the mild winter.

As I tell many people though, your living in the wrong place if your a snow lover!

I find about 15 days of snow and frigid cold each year in Canada will satisfy my love of cold and snow. At least until I retire! Then I am heading north.

(My wife always says the same thing when I mention retirement in the great white north- "MAKE SURE TO WRITE!")
